Many people plan on getting life insurance “someday”. Two of the most common reasons to procrastinate is because they feel it is too expensive for their current budget. They may also feel that it is a waste since they don’t plan on dying any time soon. Those may be the reasons that they think they don’t need it but in fact, those are the very reasons why they do need it.
If you put off purchasing permanent life insurance because your family is struggling along financially now, just imagine how rough it will be for them if you die and they must do without your income. It could be a catastrophic situation and your spouse and/or children could lose everything. The house you own, the lifestyle they live, the dreams they have for the future, could all disappear with your untimely death.
But you don’t plan on dying anytime soon, so you have nothing to worry about, right? But too many deaths are just that – sudden and unplanned for. Most people don’t make plans for their immediate future that include a specific date of death. Life doesn’t work that way and neither does death.
Think of life insurance as the final gift that you can give your family. It is one of the few things that can bring them comfort in their time of grief. Without it, they will be grieving and overwhelmed with the sudden financial burdens from your death. Grieving is hard enough without the additional stress of trying to plan a funeral and trying to stay afloat financially.
So don’t let your loved ones suffer because you are betting on a long life. Invest in life insurance so that your family will be provided for, even when you are no longer there to do it.
